Our general French courses are carefully structured in order to develop competency in the four key learning areas: speaking, reading, writing and listening. Following the Common European Framework of Reference for languages, the total duration of each course for adults is 42 hours and new sessions are proposed throughout the year.
- For adults
We offer a full range of classes from complete beginners to advanced level. These classes can be taken at an intensive or extensive pace. While the content of the two streams remains unchanged, students are able to choose the pace that best suits their schedule. The intensive course runs over 7 weeks and consists of two three-hour classes per week. The extensive course runs over 14 weeks and consists of either two one-and-a-half-hour classes per week on weekdays or one three-hour class on a Saturday morning. The total cost for any of these classes is R3 800 and course textbooks are available at our reception.
- For teenagers (13 to 15 years old)
The teens classes are available for complete beginners to more advanced level. Teens will learn French through group work and engaging activites related to their spheres of interest. These classes take place on Friday afternoons and cost R1 450 per term. Course textbooks are available at our reception.
- For children (7 to 12 years old)
From complete beginners to more advanced level, children will learn French through fun and interactive activites. Classes are designed to encourage learning by means of singing, drawing, playing games and doing creative tasks. These classes take place on Friday afternoons and cost R1 450 per term. Course textbooks are available at our reception.
We also run a French Club on Fridays for francophone children. This class is aimed at children who have learnt French but, living in South Africa, are no longer exposed to the language on a regular basis. The goal of this course is to create a fun environment in which children can maintain contact with the French language.
- For toddlers (4 to 6 years old)
The very little ones will learn to introduce themselves, count, sing, play and have fun in French. The classes take place on Friday afternoons and cost R 950 per term.
