Operation and partnerships
The Alliance Française du Cap is part of the Fondation des Alliances Françaises which originated in 1883. It forms part of a network of 832 Alliances Françaises based in 131 countries all over the world.
The cultural centre is supported by the French Embassy in South Africa and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. It works in partnership with Institut Français d’Afrique du Sud (IFAS), Délégation Générale de l’Alliance Française en Afrique Australe (DGAF) and the Consulat Général de France au Cap.
The Alliance Francaise is managed by a local committee to ensure that the institution is anchored in its city. This committee is composed of members of the Alliance Française of Cape Town elected on an annual basis. They meet regularly to set goals and determine the trajectory of the Alliance and gather once a year for a General Assembly. The President currently chairing the committee is Mrs Juliet Clegg.
