Francophonie Month

March 2022

On March 20, 1970, representatives of 21 countries and governments signed the Niamey Treaty committing their countries to an international solidarity movement in the French language.
March 20th was for years Francophonie Day, which then grew to Francophonie week and eventually Francophonie month, reflecting the development of the movement.

In Cape Town as everywhere else in the world, a vast array of events will be offered to the public for the occasion. ‘Naturellement’, Alliance Française du Cap will be very much involved in events promoting the French language and culture.
